Have you ever wished you could play Hitman in real life? This next video may just be that fantasy come to life.
YouTube content creators RealmPictures were hired by Square Enix themselves for a special project, after demonstrating Life First Person Shooter (Chatroulette Version). The concept is simplicity itself: several YouTubers were directed to enter a room, and take on the role of handler to Agent 47.
Speaking via intercom, players watched a camera following a real live Agent 47 (who conveniently has a camera following him constantly over the shoulder), and gave the agent instructions to accomplish his next assignment. The players had everything you imagine a handler like Diana Burnwood would; a map of the location; access to security cameras, and intel on the target.
Interestingly, Agent 47 acted entirely under the players’ instructions. What this means is when he entered a room full of enemies, he would not react on instinct like a normal person, but still wait on instructions, even if several people were already shooting at him.
Different players came up with different solutions to similar situations. For example, to access a restricted area, some players asked the Agent to cut a person’s finger to open a security lock. Other players instructed him to bring the whole body.
As you can imagine, this was a fun and well-organized live performance, which required RealmPictures not only hire a game cast, but secure a location fitting of the Hitman series.
Hitman launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 11th, with additional episodes opening up new areas later in the year. You can watch video of real-life Hitman below, and you can also see trailers for Hitman Legacy and the Hitman Season Premiere.
