As “realistic” as Skyrim can seem, there’s always been a little something missing from the ambience—a sense that the world was alive… with flowing water, that is. The water may look great (and with a few mods, it may look even better), but it just doesn’t sound great.
A new mod titled the “Sound of Nature – Water” by john129pats has been released to remedy something that’s been missing from the game. It can be seen in action in the video above.
What the mod does is change a number of variables in the way the sound of water is presented in the game. Waterfalls are louder and have deeper bass, and can be heard—as in real life—from farther away. Rivers are quieter and calmer, and the stream that runs through Whiterun doesn’t sound as deafening as it used to.
The creator of the mod intends to work on improving the sounds of the wind, creatures, fire, birds, rain, spell casting in the near future.
The mod can be downloaded here.
