Ellie, the female lead in The Last of Us, bears a striking resemblance to a certain Super/Juno/Inception actress, a stiking resemblance that caused eager watchers of that first teaser trailer to believe she might somehow be involved in the game. The name similarity didn't help, calling her Ellie and giving her a likeness to Ellen Page is perhaps not the best thing to do if you're now going to try and distance yourself from the actress, something Naughty Dog is now trying to do.
When asked at the PlayStation Blog (comment 44) whether the character design was based on Ellen Page, Eric Monacelli replied rather cryptically: "Ellie is a sum design of many different references."
Ellie is actually being played by Ashley Johnson and, by definition, she is not Ellen Page, so it'd be nice to see that rumour die down. It wouldn't surprise me if Ellie looked a little bit different in the next trailer, but we'll have to wait and see.
