As most of you already know, the Vita has launched in Japan, but how are those lucky enough to have a Vita choosing to get their games?
According SCEJ's CEO Hiroshi Kawano, the “sales of the download versions of titles are exceeding expectations,” which is hardly surprising given the day and age we live in. Andriasang has done some number crunching, and while the Vita sold 325,000 units, it only has an attache rate of 0.92. That’s actually under one game per Vita.
So, by process of elimination, consumers have either been buying Vitas with the purpose of using it as a very expensive and desired paper weight, or have been downloading their games instead.
Every title is available online for download via the PlayStation Network, making it a viable option for anyone with a wifi or 3G unit.
This certainly explains why Japan sold out of the 32GB Vita cards so quickly.
