Skrillex on His Music: “Go pirate it if you don’t have the money.”

December 26, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Skrillex has no problem with you pirating his music.

Sonny Moore, better known by his stage name Skrillex, has joined in the spirit of Christmas with a statement on his Facebook page. That artist, best known for popularizing the dubstep genre, is releasing a new album titled Bangarang this week.

"Happy holidays just like I promised," he said. "Just like I always say, go pirate it if you don't have the money, I just want you to have it."

"You can buy it here, either way I'll love you."

Moore's statement flies in the face of so much anti-piracy rhetoric by the mainstream recording industry, which blames piracy for losses amounting to billions of imaginary dollars in spite of record profits.

Skrillex's version of the Syndicate theme song will feature in Starbreeze Studios' upcoming game, Syndicate. This version of the iconic song is without a doubt the most excellent remix to date, being entirely faithful to the synthesized refrains of the original track.
