Australian and New Zealand gamers who were looking forward to the Old Republic felt a little bit ripped off when it was announced EA wouldn’t be committing to an Australian or New Zealand release date. Good news is, though, that we’ve finally got one.
Okay, so most of us in the Aussie and New Zealand crowd who really wanted to play SWTOR have probably already got a copy anyway and just use a foreign server. That being said, it’s nice to know that we aren’t just being flat out ignored, and that we’ll finally be getting our own servers.
According to the statement made on the SWTOR forums, the launch window will be around Spring 2012.
“We can confirm that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be launching in Australia and New Zealand in the spring of 2012. Right now we are targeting March 1st, but that could change as our number one priority is making sure that customers have a great service to play on.
"For those of you who may have already imported the game, we will be investigating solutions to allow you to continue to play on a local server once they come online in March.”
To be honest, I’m just looking forward to painting myself blue and going to all the launch events.
