Mod support has become more and more welcomed by development teams and publishers. There’s a push to keep some games supported long after the developers move on. A way to ensure this happens is by allowing players to craft their own unique content. Through mods, the sky is the limit in what could come to some of your favorite video games. Developers have been providing the fan base community with mod tools. This is a way to further allow the development of new content into these specific games and keeping them supported for other players to enjoy.
Today it’s been unveiled that Dying Light 2 Stay Human has mod support. Players can acquire the development tools through DLC on both Steam and Epic Games Store. However, all mods will be going to the mod.io platform. Since this set of tools was just given out, it might be a little while before you start seeing some thrilling new content additions land on the game or some further tweaks from where developers had previously left off. Despite the tools just now landing in the hands of modders, there are some incentives to get players to create content.
Techland has also unveiled the Shape Your City contest. With this contest, players are encouraged to check out the developer tools and craft up unique cities. From there, players can submit their creations to the contest. Best of all, there is a prize pool of over $55,000, so modders will want to get busy creating some new thrilling maps. According to the Techland post, entries will close on January 20, 2023. From there, the winners will be announced on February 2, 2023.
