The first paid expansion for the nostalgia-dispensing Star Wars Battlefront is well on its way, and today new details have emerged about the upcoming DLC, giving fans a glimpse of what fate has in store for next month’s release.
Two new playable heroes will be part of the new content, Greedo from the original Star Wars movie’s iconic Mos Eisley cantina scene with Han Solo, and Nien Nunb, the arms dealer turned Rebel Alliance fighter from the later films. Fittingly, two maps will also be added, Nien Nunb’s homeland of Sullust, and Jabba the Hutt’s throne room slash barrage on Tatooine. A fresh batch of weapons will be thrown in for good measure, the Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster pistol as well as three Star Cards, the Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade, and Adrenaline Stim.
A new mode will also make its debut, called Extraction. As the name suggests, Extraction Mode will pit the players against one another as the Rebels set out to extract and retrieve a package and bring it back to their home base while the Empire tries to stop them.
No release date has yet been announced for Outer Rim, the first of four planned expansions, however, it is included in the Star Wars Battlefront season pass. The second expansion Bespin will follow this upcoming summer, and the third, Death Star, in the fall. A fourth unnamed expansion is expected in “early 2017”. The base game debuted on November 17, 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more news related to this title, be sure to browse all the latest stories and posts at the Gameranx site tag.
