Those that play video games know all about the Crash Bandicoot series; it is one of the longest-running platforming franchises of all time, and it has no signs of slowing down either. The franchise has been operating for a lofty 25 years, and even if it did hit a bit of a lull at one point in the mid-2000s, the popularity of the N.Sane Trilogy certainly put it back in the limelight. It’s been a few years since the last game was released, so how good would it be if we had a new Crash Bandicoot reveal at The Game Awards 2022?
We’re not making things up for the sake of it either because a new Crash Bandicoot reveal has been talked about for quite some time now. It wasn’t that long ago that a new game was rumored to be in the works, and this could mean that an exciting Crash Bandicoot title could potentially be seen at the famed awards show. And to add fuel to the fire, the official Twitter account of Crash Bandicoot teased a possible appearance at TGA 2022.
As you can see from the above tweet, the game’s official account simply said “So… what’s everyone doing tomorrow?” and look who replied to the tweet, none other than the award show host, Geoff Keighley. The man himself has long been associated with small teasers in the lead-up to the show, so maybe his reply is him hinting at a small marsupial game secret.
As well as the past rumors, this little exchange likely confirms that there will be a Crash Bandicoot reveal at the event but don’t hold us on that one. However, that’s about in terms of details regarding a game; there has been no solid information about the gameplay or what type of game it will be either. One potential leak was that this upcoming title could feature a 4-player multiplayer mode, which would lead us to believe that the game would have a very prominent online aspect.
Fans have had to wait a few years for another Crash Bandicoot game to enter the fray. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was released in 2020 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with releases for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows following in 2021. Reviews for the game were great as well, with praise going to the preservation and refinement of the series’ classic platforming, while also implementing new gameplay mechanics. Let’s see what kind of Crash Bandicoot news The Game Awards 2022 offers anyway.
