Undoubtedly, some people are still surprised that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting DLC over five years after it dropped on the Nintendo Switch. The Booster Course Pass, as it’s known, was a shock to many gamers when it was announced earlier this year. The question, as it were, was whether fans would take a liking to it or whether they would reject it and still ask for a new entry in the series. The rollout hasn’t always been smooth, but people have been positive about it for the most part. Today, Wave 3 of the Booster Course Pass arrived, meaning there are eight new tracks to race on.
As usual, the wave is broken up into two parts via different Cups. The Rock Cup has the following four courses: London Loop, Boo Lake, Rock Rock Mountain, and Maple Treeway. Meanwhile, the Moon Cup has Berlin Byways, Peach Gardens, Merry Mountain, and Rainbow Road from the 3DS title.
If nothing else, these eight tracks will further the variety you have to enjoy with your friends or test your skills on new tracks. With Wave 3 now out, the Booster Course Pass has reached a crucial milestone, the halfway point. That means three waves are left to go and 24 more tracks to receive before all is said and done.
Many are already questioning what Nintendo will do once the Booster Course Pass is done, and there is no definitive answer right now as to what that response might be. Gamers have made it clear that while they like getting all these remade courses, they still want a new entry in the series as they haven’t had one on console since the Wii U. Remember, the Switch game is a port with the original DLC for the title.
But, one could argue that Nintendo might try another Booster Course Pass if they feel it can get them some extra money and spare them from diving full force into another game. Only time will tell.
If you’re interested in getting the newest wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, there are multiple ways you can do it. First, you can get the entire pass from the Nintendo eShop and thus have it locked in for when the final three waves enter. Or, if you have the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, you’ll get the pass for free without having to make a separate purchase.
