In what seems to be the most recent in a stream of bugs affecting elements of Overwatch 2 a Reddit user by the name of Analyzor has discovered a pretty significant problem with Baptiste’s Immortality Field. Players who usually main Baptiste or are partial to using them in specific scenarios will now have to worry even more about where they deploy their Immortality Field.
Unfortunately, this worry isn’t about making sure your team is in its radius but instead focuses on certain areas of maps that will outright reject the use of the ability. As shown in the Reddit compilation below there are numerous points on different maps that fail to register the abilities deployment. Sometimes they’ll bounce off walls and fizzle out and in some scenarios, they’ll just go through the wall completely.
This is a major flaw for Baptiste players as it can really make or break certain situations of play. What makes this even more frustrating for Baptiste players is the 25-second cool-down that the ability enforces meaning that if you encounter this bug at one point or another your team will be left for dead in clutch situations.
It’s unknown if Blizzard is aware of the issues but many players in the comments to Analyzor’s post who main Baptiste are calling for a fix as soon as possible. One user wrote “Awful bug. Blizz pls fix.” while another lamented the bug citing the ability’s long cool-down: “bro, this is sad, it’s unbelievable that this happens with a skill with such a big cooldown time.”
This bug is not the first bug Overwatch 2 has encountered. Just last week, A major bug was revealed that made Doomfist’s Seismic Slam ability deal little to no damage to enemy players. Whether the Baptiste bug has been caught by Blizzard and will receive a fix below Season 2’s launch is unclear but many will be hoping that a large majority if not all, major game bugs are addressed in the new season update. It could be a possibility that Blizzard removes Baptiste from play to fix the character similar to what happened to both Mei and Bastion earlier on in the game’s life. Needless to say, Baptiste mains will be hoping this issue is resolved as soon as possible.
Overwatch 2 is currently free-to-play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
