Splatoon 3’s Chill Season Has Arrived!

December 1, 2022 by Todd Black

Ready to chill?

Splatoon 3 has been teasing its next big content update for a couple of weeks now. But, at last, Chill Season is here. While you won’t be able to get everything the season offers right off the bat, the first wave of the new items, gear, etc., has begun to trickle into the game. The first thing you can do is go into the title and check out the catalog to see the items you can earn by playing Turf War and other modes. Then, as time goes on, more items, weapons, stages, and the content will flow in to make this season truly one to remember.

One of the most significant additions via Chill Season is the “Big Run” event, which recently got detailed further. In the expansion of Salmon Run, the Salmonids have invaded Splatsville and transformed some of the maps you know and love. So you’ll have to battle them on those maps to drive off their “migrations” and send them back to the areas they’re usually at. That mode will arrive on December 9th and go until the 11th, so be prepared for when that comes!

SRL Meteorology checking in with big news—Chill Season 2022 is here! The coming months will be packed with new weapons, stages, gear, and more. So whether you're new to Splatoon or an ink-splattered warrior, you can stay warm by hopping into heated battles all season long! pic.twitter.com/Vrvw5w6z3f

Speaking of Salmon Run, a new feature was added to the game on that side of things. There’s a terminal you can get in the Grizzco building that’ll allow you to do “single shifts.” In context, have you gone into a Salmon Run mode and met an enemy you hated? As in, you could never figure out a good way to work around their defenses and beat them to get the golden eggs? Now you can face them in saved scenarios so you can practice against them!

You can do these scenarios multiple times until you get the hang of it and can counter your foes.

SRL HR division here! The Grizzco terminal now lets you save set combos of stages, Salmonid enemies, special conditions, and more for single shifts as "job scenarios." Replay job scenarios as Private Jobs as many times as you want. Repetition is the key to mastery! pic.twitter.com/cxqQBKhkU4

Plus, December should also have a Christmas-themed Splatfest to look forward to. Given what happened in the last few Splatfests regarding both topics and results, this could be a really fun matchup depending on what they select for the holiday season. Hopefully, we’ll get an answer on what that Splatfest will be soon!

Splatoon 3 is off to a hot start with its new content. The Chill Season will keep players entertained for a long time, and if Nintendo maintains this pace, it’ll be the most content-filled game in the series! So when you have a chance today, dive in and see what the Chill Season offers you right now!
