Treyarch has announced that players in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be able to enjoy another Double XP weekend starting today. In any Double XP weekend, players will get double the amount of experience points for completing objectives, winning, and so on, allowing them to massively gain new levels and work their way towards Master Prestige.
Additionally, between now and Sunday afternoon, Activision is offering the game as a free-to-play experience on Steam so you can download it and play it for yourself and buy it if you like what you experience. The game is also on sale at a 33% discount for the standard edition and 20% off for the deluxe edition during this time.
The “free” version of the game was released last week on the PC and includes a slimmed-down version of the game’s competitive multiplayer mode. It includes access to ranked multiplayer with a cap of 55, so you won’t be able to prestige. You will also have access to the weapon paint shop, gunsmith, emblem editor, arena, and freerun modes. You can watch replays through the theater and spend Cryptokeys in the Black Market.
The starter pack does not include the game’s co-op zombies mode or the co-op campaign and is only available until February 29. It will not be available past that date. Having access to the starter pack will allow you to upgrade to the full version of the game, which doesn’t come with any of the aforementioned limitations.
The Double XP weekend will be available for players across every platform the game is out for, including the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
