Our friends at FuryFingers have put together another one of their excellent short films. Their latest video is inspired by both the classic 1979 film The Warriors and Pac-man. The result is a gritty reimagining of Pac-man in a late ’70s New York street setting.
They previously produced a short film based on Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Here are some of the details they shared with us about the making of the short film.
With Fight Choreography and Parkour as our focus we set out to make a fun n’ badass film. Anthony Rinna lead the piece as both Pac-man and the fight choreographer. He took cues from Jackie Chan for the combat – Andrew Shanks Director says: “…giving the flick a fun ‘Rumble in the Bronx’ Vibe.” We reached out to the ‘Sweezy’ team to feature as the Parkour gang. And Ben Palk of ‘Big Daddy’s Discotheque created a rocking late 70’s – 80’s inspired track.Filming took place in the city of Adelaide (Australia) across 5 late nights. The piece was made for next to no money and shot guerrilla style. As a channel we believe ‘PACMAN: Come out to Play’ sits nicely alongside our other films. Action, VFX and comedy orientated films based on video games.
