WG Labs has taken it upon themselves to reboot the classic 4X space strategy game Master of Orion. Today, they revealed the first set of in-game features that are waiting for anyone who buys the Collector’s Edition. Starting this week on February 26, strategy gamers can command their very own galactic fleet and partake in Tactical Battles, compete against friends online, or test their mettle against the AI.

Tactical Battles allow players to design their own fleets in real time. Players can issue commands to every unit in their fleet and take full control over the battle.

In our Tactical Battles, players have the chance to experience what it’s like to be an admiral in charge of a massive fleet,” said Chris Keeling, Director of Product Vision at WG Labs. “We’ve created immersive, visually stunning combat that lets the player take command. These tactical battles are all about strategic decision-making at the crucial moment, turning the tide to ensure victory, and bringing your ships home to fight again.”

With the game heading to Early Access, players will have access to six lead races, including Mrrshan, Psilon, Bulrathi, Alkari, Human, and Sakkra. WG Labs is promising to add even more races into the mix in the near future. At the moment, players can win the game through three unique victory conditions: Diplomatic, Conquest, or Excellence. The last of the three requires you to have a higher average score than the rest of your opponents when the game ends.

Master of Orion supports 64-bit Windows installations with more platforms planned for later. The game will release with full English localization, featuring the voice talents of actors best known for their work in sci-fi. The game will also come with Russian localization and support for other languages in the future is planned.
