Vita supports trophies. That's pretty damn exciting for people like me, easily led by the idea of shiny virtual achievements. The idea of having Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 AND Golden Abyss on my PS3 trophy list is hugely appealing and something I've been waiting for confirmation on for a long time. In a heartbeat that excitement is gone. Why? Because according to Sony's Brad Douglas, the Vita only allows one account per console and, unlike on the PSP, you need to reset to factory settings to change accounts.
Any thoughts you've had involving multiple stores, multiple friend lists, separate trophy lists – all of that is out the window. It's made basic features for individuals an impossibility and if you have siblings or whatever, the experience is now dulled. I'm hoping this will be fixed via firmware update fairly quickly because, frankly, if Sony don't manage it, some deep, dark area of the internet will and Sony have been down that road before…
It's a little less than a fortnight until initial release in Japan – we'll soon find out whether this is as big a deal for multi-person owners as it seems.
