God of War Ragnarok Gets Launch Trailer

October 27, 2022 by Todd Black

More gods must fall.

There are many gamers out there who are eagerly anticipating the arrival of God of War Ragnarok. The title will end the Norse saga that Kratos and his son Atreus are on, and it’ll be an unbelievable fight to the finish. The game arrives on November 9th, and a small launch trailer came out today to highlight what you can expect from the title. As you’ll see below, the game is about Kratos and his son trying to defy Ragnarok and bring stability back to the Nine Realms. But to do so, they’ll have to make alliances with gods and fight off others, including Thor and Odin.

One thing you’ll immediately notice with the game is not just the crisp visuals but the scale of it. While the previous title on PS4 had you going to parts of the Nine Realms to complete the mission given to you by Kratos’ late wife, God of War Ragnarok will take you to all Nine Realms. Moreover, they will be seen in greater detail, giving them a much livelier feel. Recent previews pointed this out as they noted that the Dwarven realm you go to felt like a much more complete place than the spots you visited in the PS4 title.

Another critical thing that is different here is the enemies. Not only will you face more Norse gods in the sequel, but you’ll also face a wider variety of monsters across the realms. That change came directly from fans, and the team at Santa Monica Studio was happy to oblige it. That means you’ll have to be constantly aware of who you’re fighting to come out on top. Because here, you won’t just be fighting enemies of one type. You’ll be fighting enemies of different sizes and abilities. You’ll fight large enemies that try to overpower you or smaller enemies in great numbers that’ll try to swarm you.

Kratos will have more options in how he fights as well. His trusty axe will be there for you again, as will the Blades of Chaos. You’ll need to use their wealth of attacks and strikes to mow down the foes trying to prevent you from achieving your goal.

But outside the combat, the goal of God of War Ragnarok is also to further the story of Kratos and Atreus. The “boy” has grown up and is trying to come to terms with who he is and what the name “Loki” means to him. However, Kratos is still a protective father and is hesitant to do certain things or let his son go off to complete tasks. So they must come together in the face of great danger to save the Nine Realms and try to finally get some peace.
