Remember that time everybody was all “hey guys the new Xbox will totally come out next holidays, totally.” Well apparently at least one well known analyst is saying otherwise. Michael Pachter, who is a well respected video game analyst and such is saying that the talks of a new Xbox next year are just plain “silly”.
"Those rumors are silly," Pachter said. "Microsoft is still selling a ton of Xbox 360s, and they won't replace the existing one until sales begin to slow. I think the rumors are based upon leaks about modifying the current Xbox 360 to allow it to operate Windows 8. I fully expect a new model of Xbox 360 by holiday 2012, but don't think we see a new console altogether from Microsoft until 2014."
With 2014 a little over 2 years away I have a hard time believing Pachter on this one. He has been wrong before, and I wouldn't be surprised if this was another one of those times. While the 360 is beginning to show it's age and I'm not at all ready for another console launch, it's still ahrd for me to believe that a new 360 is that far off.
