There’s a brand new seasonal update headed into Killing Floor 2. The zombie survival horror game gets its Blood and Bonfires update today, which will introduce a new map, game mode and new weapons, amongst other things. The update will also bring in a number of quality-of-life improvements to the popular undead-slaying title.
Blood and Bonfires is a special Halloween-themed event which will run from today, October 13 until November 10, giving players a good couple of weeks of spooky season action to enjoy. The update will bring in the new map of Barmwich Town, which will be available for Killing Floor 2‘s Survival, Weekly, and Endless game modes. The map itself takes the form of a creepy medieval town, which has of course been overrun by hideous Zeds that players will need their strength and wits to overcome. You can check out the new trailer for the Blood and Bonfires update right here to get a feel for the frights and sights coming up in Killing Floor 2.
The update also brings a number of seasonal objectives, cosmetics and tickets into the game. These include particular seasonal objectives related to Barmwich Town, which if players complete they can earn the Plague Doctor Backpack cosmetic item. To add to this, the Blood and Bonfires update also introduces Halloween Treat Prize Tickets and Halloween Treat Golden Prize Tickets, which players can earn throughout the event.
New weapons will also be added to the game as part of the new update. There’ll be two new paid DLC weapons available, each of which will have five different weapon skins. These weapons are the Blood Sickle and the G36C Assault Rifle. In addition, there’ll be two new free HRG weapons included as part of the update, the HRG Locust and HRG Dragonsblaze.
A new Weekly game mode will also make its way into Killing Floor 2. Called Primary Target, one player is chosen as the VIP. All the Zeds in this mode will target the VIP, meaning that this player needs to be kept safe. If the VIP dies, the full team is defeated, so protection is vital in this new mode. The VIP can’t heal themself but will start with extra health points. However, the VIP can improve their damage output and resistance with low health points, so it’s not completely hopeless if things don’t go to plan. A new VIP will be chosen for each of the mode’s seven different waves.
In terms of cosmetic items, players will be able to get their hands on four spooky weapon skin bundles and one outfit bundle. These are detailed as being the Plague Doctor Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, the Xeno Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, the Classic MKII Weapon Skin Bundle Pack, the Chameleon MKII Weapon Skin Bundle Pack and the Plague Doctor Character Outfit.
Killing Floor 2 is available now on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
