It turns out that taking part in gaming community challenges can really pay off. The Elder Scrolls Online community is about to find this out, as its been revealed that Bethesda and Zenimax will be giving out the game’s upcoming DLC for free to certain players. Firesong, which is the next planned DLC for the massively popular MMORPG, will be given out as a free reward to all those who currently own the High Isle expansion.
The pretty major gift comes as a result of the Elder Scrolls Online community’s participation in the game’s Heroes of High Isle challenge. The challenge was set at the beginning of September and basically stipulated that if enough players earned the High Isle Pathfinder achievement, the next DLC would be given out free as a reward. This includes all owners of the game’s latest High Isle expansion, regardless of whether or not they actually took part in the challenge. So for those just learning about it, there’s definitely some thanks to be sent to the rest of the Elder Scrolls Online players who earned the High Isle Pathfinder trophy.
Three rewards in total are now available to claim in the game’s Crown Store. These are the Oak’s Promise Markings, Plant Yourself emote and of course, the full Firesong DLC, which the Elder Scrolls Online team has revealed will be made available on its launch day. Found in the ‘featured’ section of the store, the Heroes of High Isle Reward Bundle will be available to claim from now until October 21. The bundle also contains an Ascendant Hoard Box and an Appleback Salamander pet for subscribers of ESO Plus.
Clearly, on a high from the success of the most recent community challenge, the team at Zenimax has now implemented a brand new bonus meter for players to fill up on the Heroes of High Isle webpage. The reward for filling this bar up to 100% will be additional Explorer’s Celebration days in-game. Players can add to the bonus meter by shutting down the volcanic vents across High Isle.
Firesong is planned to release on November 1 for PC, with a console release planned for shortly afterwards. The new DLC will introduce a new zone into the game. Alongside this, it’ll bring a new bunch of story content and additional challenges, items and mysteries. It’ll also provide the conclusion to the long-running Legacy of the Bretons storyline, which has been the running theme throughout the High Isle expansion this year.
The Elder Scrolls Online is available now. The Firesong DLC is planned to release for players on PC on November 1. Those playing the game on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 can expect to see an update to the base game as well as the DLC released a little later, on November 15.
