Genshin Impact is getting a new update soon and today’s live stream from Hoyoverse has previewed all the details, including the surprise news of an animated series. The game’s forthcoming version 3.1 will be titled King Deshret And The Three Magi. Along with introducing another new area to the game, a number of new playable characters were also confirmed.
It’s not been that long since Genshin Impact rolled out version 3.0, the latest major update that introduced the new region of Sumeru into the game. Today’s live stream event, which was crammed full of exclusive reveals, codes, and news on the future of Genshin Impact, also confirmed the date of the upcoming new version. King Deshret And The Three Magi will be landing on September 28. You can watch the trailer for the latest update right here ahead of its release in a couple of weeks.
Version 3.1 will be expanding the boundaries of the game even further. This will be thanks to the introduction of Sumeru’s second biome, a huge desert region named Searing Dream in the Sea of Sand. As well as providing some sandy yet satisfying new areas to explore, players will also be introduced to a new enemy type in the upcoming version. Mechanical bosses will be making their way into the action, alongside additional mechanized desert monsters and a range of new critters. As can be seen in the trailer, the new desert biome leans in heavily toward a whole Ancient Egypt vibe and will prove to be a key component in the new Archon quests that it brings into play.
As expected, three new playable characters will be arriving in version 3.1. In addition to this, longstanding characters Venti and Albedo will also be getting another run. The new characters heading into Genshin Impact are confirmed to be Hydro character Candace, Electro-wielding Cyno, and Hydro character Nilou. Candace will be a four-star character, whereas Cyno and Nilou will be five-star characters. There’ll also be a number of in-game events coming up in version 3.1, including Star-Seeker’s Sojourn, Wind Chaser, Hyakunin Ikki, and Of Ballads and Brews.
Hoyoverse’s live stream also appeared to confirm some of the more recent speculation about a Genshin Impact Trading Card Game. However, most interestingly, it also revealed an official collaboration with animation studio Ufotable, dropping a concept trailer for a proposed anime series based on the game. It’s described as being a “long-term project,” which whilst pretty exciting, probably means that fans will be in for a bit of a wait before seeing any completed episodes. Either way, this is bound to be something for the game’s substantial fan base to look forward to and speaks volumes about the game’s popularity, given that it’s not even two years old yet.
As usual, the live stream event also treated players to some special in-game codes for Primogems. Players can redeem these through the official Hoyoverse website, provided they’re at Aventure Rank 10. Check out the latest codes below to bag some freebies.
