XCOM 2 Deal Reaches 23% Off As Game Goes Live

February 5, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Latest in XCOM series arrives, Steam code deal up to 23% off.

xcom-2
This weekend GMG has a new XCOM 2 Steam key deal, just in time for fans of the series as the game goes live tonight. Firaxis’ newest title is coming out next week Friday, February 5th but if you buy before the titles release you can drop the price to $46.19. The Deluxe Edition has the same 23% discount, but requires you to enter in a voucher code at checkout.

  • XCOM 2: Digital Deluxe (Steam Key) — $57.75 (list $75)
  • Use code: DEALZO-NSAVES-23XCOM
  • XCOM 2 Standard Edition (Steam Key) — $46.19 (list $60)
  • North American gamers will need to login to see this discount
  • If you’re in Europe, use code: SAVE25-ONXCOM-SAVE25 (works on Standard and Deluxe)

The deal at GMG is via an authorized retailer of Firaxis Games. This means you’ll get the same pre-order bonuses that you get at anywhere else (such as Steam Store, Amazon, etc.). The pre-order bonus is the “Resistance Warrior Pack” which includes extra customization outfits for your resistance fighters like headgear, outfits, and war paint. This deal will last only until about tomorrow morning at 10AM Pacific, given we’re so close to official release date.

Should You Buy XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe?

Is it better to buy the Deluxe Edition or go with just the Standard Edition? This depends on how big of a fan of the series you are, and how quickly you think you’ll play through the game as the Season Pass content within the Digital Deluxe won’t be released till later in 2016.

With a price tag of $75 for the Deluxe, you’re essentially only paying $15 for the Reinforcement Pack instead of the $20 you’ll have to pay if you buy separately. After coupon at GMG, you’re getting even more savings.

Split into three specific DLCs, the first DLC for the Season Pass goes live later this Spring, while the later two DLCs show up in Summer. If realistically you won’t play through the game by the time Season Pass content crops up, we say going with the XCOM 2 standard edition is good enough.

This whole thing is for moot, of course, if you think buying Season Pass is the worst thing since Phantom Menace.

Disclosure: If you follow the links and purchase the game, we may receive a small commission.
