Far Cry Primal is coming out later this month and as such, the commercials and TV ads are popping up to alert players to the impending release. This latest one is running on UK television and is called “The Charge”. In it the protagonist travels through time to suddenly find himself on a icy mountain battlefield staring down a saber toothed tiger with nothing but a weathered bone for a weapon. As the trailer says Far Cry Primal is “not about guns, it’s about guts”, and that will become very clear as you watch our fur clad caveman realize he’s in for the fight of his Neolithic life.
Despite the relatively short gap between the release of Far Cry Primal and its predecessor Far Cry 4, Far Cry Primal is said to be a full Far Cry game, with lead writer Kevin Shortt promising a full 30 hour single player campaign. And despite the primitive basis for its premise, Shortt also says enormous research went into the game to make it as authentic as possible, even basing its three languages, Wenja, Udam, and Izila, on ones that actually existed. Other historical and thematic considerations were made as well, including their decision to feature a shaman, as opposed to a wizard or other fantasy figure based on modern lore.
Far Cry Primal comes out on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on February 23, 2016. Those who pre-order on Xbox One will also receive a copy of European World War I adventure game Valiant Hearts. For more news on this topic, be sure to check out our tag!
