Mojang has announced the release of a new Minecraft skins pack to usher in the Year of the Monkey on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This time around, players will be able to treat themselves to skins modeled after characters from the classic Chinese fable, the Journey to the West.
The fable was most recently told in video games in Enslaved by Team Ninja, which depicted its characters in a science fiction setting.
In Minecraft’s new Journey to the West skin pack, players will get 15 different characters, including the Monkey King and his assortment of traveling companions such as Lord Hundred-Eyes and Princess Iron Fan.
The whole collection costs $1.99 and is now available for purchase for the Pocket Edition and the Windows 10 Edition. There’s no word on when it will be available across consoles and the regular PC version of the game. If you choose not to buy the pack, you can download Guanyin and Red Boy for free.
Here’s what’s included in total:
- Black Wind Demon
- Bull Demon King
- Friar Sand
- Guanyin
- Jade Emperor
- Lady Earth Flow
- Lord Hundred-Eyes
- Monk Pig
- Monkey King
- Pale Bone Demon
- Princess Iron Fan
- Red Boy
- Scorpion Demon
- Spider Demon
- Xuanzang
If you’re playing the PC version of Minecraft, you should check out some of the best mods available for the game right now. Most of these have been around for awhile, but they’ve been kept updated and change quite a bit about the game.
