When I finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution, one of the few things that really bothered me about the game were the boss fights. They seemed redundant, underwhelming, and, to be blunt, stupid; it felt very off putting in such an immersive and compelling world.
I quickly discovered from reviews and message boards that my feelings were mutual among the community and today, producer David Anfossi touched on the issue.
"First, the boss fights were forced, which is not the Deus Ex experience. Second, there is no mix solutions to tackle the boss fights, which is not Deus Ex either." stated David. Though the boss fights were outsourced by AI specialist Grip Entertainment, he still takes full responsibility for the controversial issue. David and Eidos Montreal still see a positive side to things and look to the future, though, by adding "There are two options: no boss fights, or do boss fights correctly. I'm pretty sure that now we have the knowledge to do it correctly."
As long as they learned from their mistakes, I'm cool with that and it's also very refreshing to see a company take a humble approach to an issue that was an obvious eye-sore to the game. I'm sure we will see a vast improvement in climatic battles when the sequel ultimately is released a few years down the road.
How do you guys and gals want to see the boss battles played out? I want to see people get thrown through walls, myself.
