Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Playable at Tokyo Game Show

August 26, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Check out the latest screenshots and a new gameplay trailer.

Those lucky enough to be attending next month’s Tokyo Game Show will be the first to play Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Publisher Koei Tecmo has just revealed its lineup of titles for Tokyo Game Show, with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty taking centre stage.

Those amongst the first to get their hands on the upcoming action RPG will also receive some nifty Wo Long merchandise. Those who play the game will bag themselves an original button badge, while players who manage to successfully clear the game’s demo stage will also receive a unique Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty T-shirt. While those in attendance may be fortunate enough to get an up-close experience of the Chinese martial arts-inspired action, those of us around the world who won’t be there can appease ourselves with this brand new gameplay trailer. Check out the latest action from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty right here.

The dark landscape of this game’s world looks pretty thrilling. With the action described by Koei Tecmo as a “dark Three Kingdoms masocore game,” it looks set to appeal to fans of both oriental lore and challenging, Elden-Ring-like boss fights. The exciting-looking game is set to launch in early 2023, although there’s no specific release window just yet.

It’s not all a waiting game for those who won’t make it to Tokyo Game Show though. At the beginning of this month, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo revealed that a planned demo version of the game was also in the works ahead of its release in full. As stated in a tweet from the official Wo Long account, players were promised a “gameplay trial in the near future.” It could very well be then, that a playable demo of the brutal but beautiful action is set to be heading our way some time after Tokyo Game Show. Of course, this is just speculation at this point, but it’d make sense if the developers are ready to put it out there for public testing at an event. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Screenshots

In addition to the new gameplay trailer, Team Ninja has also released some gorgeously detailed new screenshots. Taken from the game whilst still in development, the new images showcase some of the intricate art and design that players will get to experience when adventuring through the story of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Check them out right here.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be launching on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game will also be launching as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. We’ll be keeping an ear to the ground for any further news on a release date.
