A job listing for an artist position at SCEA Santa Monica inidcates that the company is at work on the next installment of their popular hack and slash franchise, God of War.
The posting, for a Senior Staff Concept Artist, reads "Join the GOW team! The Santa Monica Studio is an open and creative environment, where we strive to make the best games in the industry. Join us as we embark on our next project."
Though Sony has yet to announce anything official about the game, be it God of War IV, a spin-off, or a Vita title, this isn't the first time we've heard rumblings of its existence. Earlier this year, a similar posting from the studio sought a "senior online programmer", indicating that the title might have some sort of multiplayer component.
To that end, Sony Santa Monica's John Hight told Joystiq back in 2010 that fans could expect to see more God of War in the future. "We're going to be really careful about what we do next, and make sure we have something interesting to show and tell," Hight remarked.
It's been nearly two years since Kratos last turned his Blades of Chaos towards the gods in God of War III.Prior rumors had the next entry in the franchise pegged for a 2012 release, but it remains to be seen if Sony Santa Monica will be able to meet that launch window.
