Buckle up, because Motorsport Games just announced its official game for the upcoming NASCAR season. NASCAR Rivals launches on October 14, 2022, only on Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders begin on August 24 if you want to make sure you get your hands on the game upon its release.
Since 2018, Motorsport Games has been the official developer and publisher of all official NASCAR games. This year, the studio is back with a new game to go alongside the latest NASCAR season.
NASCAR Rivals keeps what makes NASCAR games popular: gorgeous cars, fast-paced races, and official drivers and teams from the current NASCAR season. It also brings new features to the series as well as several game modes.
This trailer doesn’t show much, besides a large set of cars and shiny lights. If there is no gameplay available just yet, Motorsport Games revealed more about the upcoming game modes.
There will be a variety of game modes available in NASCAR Rivals. Race Now will allow players to select any driver or team and compete on one of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series tracks. Challenges put players into scenarios from real-life events to test their skills on the track. For those who would want to become the next NASCAR superstar, NASCAR Rivals features a Career Mode to either create or join a racing team.
The game also features various multiplayer modes to compete either online or offline. NASCAR Rivals supports co-op multiplayer via split-screen, so you can play with friends on your couch. If your friends are coming over with their own Nintendo Switch, NASCAR Rivals supports local multiplayer sessions for up to seven players on the same local network. The online multiplayer feature pits up to 15 players against one another.
To win these races with class, you can customize your car and avatar. If changing your character is mainly about appearances and sponsor logos, when it comes to cars you have a larger variety of customization options. The game includes a Paint Booth for you to tailor your racing cars to your needs.
NASCAR Rivals will be the second NASCAR game coming to Nintendo Switch, following 2021’s NASCAR Heat Ultimate Edition+. NASCAR 21: Ignition didn’t reach Nintendo’s console, as it was only available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows. NASCAR Rivals won’t be coming to other consoles than Nintendo Switch. The next NASCAR game reaching PlayStation, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows will be NASCAR 23.
NASCAR Rivals will be available on October 14, 2022. The game will only be available on the Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders open on August 24, 2022 if you’re impatient and want to book your seat as soon as possible. You can find the game on the Nintendo eShop for $49.99.
