Owners of Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine on Steam and other platforms will note the existence of a free new update for the game.
The update adds what its developers are calling Exterminatus, a cooperative Horde-like mode that pits a squad of four Space Marines against hordes of alien enemies in a score based fight to the death. Players can take on the roles of the Tactical Marine, Devastator, and Assault Marine, and possess any weapons and perks available to each class.
Exterminatus presently offers two scenarios, 'Assault on Hab Center Andreas' and 'Escape from Kalkys Facility,' with global leader boards and dynamic challenges that allow players to improve their scores. Additionally, score modifiers are added depending on the game's difficulty for even higher scores. As Space Marines, you'll take on roving hordes of greenskins and a variety of other bad guys as you make your last stand.
Players who engage in Exterminatus will earn experience that counts towards the game's multiplayer ranks, so progression in co-op and competitive multiplayer goes hand in hand. Good times.
