New figures from YouTube Gaming reveal that Elden Ring had one of the most successful video launches ever on the platform. FromSoftware’s mega-hit, which recently pushed its way into the U.S. charts of the top 10 bestselling games of all time, racked up an insane amount of views on its launch back in February.
The data shows that in its first 60 days post-release, the game accumulated a whopping 3.4 billion video views, which YouTube Gaming has referred to as being “one of the biggest launches ever on YouTube.”
The view count is way ahead of other massively successful games like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, although it’s fair to say that YouTube has become more of a major player in the world of gaming since both of those games’ launch periods back in 2013 and 2018, respectively.
Either way, these figures are another testament to Elden Ring’s massive and ongoing popularity, which shows no signs of abating any time soon. Players clearly can’t get enough of the game’s bosses either, with the most popular boss video upload being Margit, The Fell Omen, and the most popular character class video being the game’s Samurai class.
Whether or not these viewing figures will have continued in an upward swing in the period after these first 60 days is unknown. However given the game’s popularity and also its level of difficulty, it’s probably a safe bet that there’s a healthy audience for Elden Ring walkthroughs, boss guides and other creator-made content for FromSoftware’s latest giant.
Speaking of creators, the figures from YouTube Gaming also give a nod to some of the Elden Ring community’s notable content creators by awarding them with “Elden Lord Awards”. These include VaatiVidya as ‘Lore Specialist’, Fextralife as the ‘All-Knowing Guide’ and speedrunner Distortion2 as ‘Bloodhound Stepper’. It’s clear that Elden Ring is becoming more than a game, with such huge figures in terms of viewers and sales regularly popping up to smash new records.
