Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is about to be released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Fans of the series have been pleased to see that the game is receiving an overwhelmingly positive reception from videogame critics online, and the good news doesn’t stop there. Monolith Soft, the developer behind the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise, has now confirmed that the planned DLC expansion for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will similar in volume to the beloved Torna The Golden Country expansion for Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
As part of an ongoing interview on the Nintendo website, various members of Monolith Soft have been questioned about the behind-the-scenes production of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The latest part of this interview series was released today, and it includes some details about the future of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and beyond.
The team discusses their approach to deciding how much content to include in a Xenoblade Chronicles game and notes that the amount of content in the latest game exceeds the first two numbered entries in the series.
Genki Yokota, a member of the entertainment planning and development department at Monolith Soft, says the following: “We will be adding a new story at the end of the Expansion Pass, and we are thinking of making its volume of content as large as Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country. We hope that those who enjoyed that content, as well as newcomers, will pick it up. It will be quite a high volume of content that will not let you down…”
When asked whether the Xenoblade Chronicles series will still go on, Yokota responded by saying, “Yes, it will still go on! I want to keep it going as long as possible!”
This is undoubtedly good news for fans of the JRPG franchise who may have been concerned that the latest numbered entry could be the end of the beloved series.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch on July 28. Its first major DLC expansion is slated to be released by the end of 2023.
