What Rocksteady plans to do next with the Batman franchise hinges entirely upon the success of Arkham City. According to Rocksteady’s Dax Ginn, any plans the studio has to make will be decided next week, pending the critical and commercial reception of their latest game.
“What happens next depends on how the game is received. We’re really proud of the work we’ve done and I think taking Batman on to the streets of Gotham is where people wanted him to go after the Asylum,” said Ginn in an interview with CVG.
“Where we go from here is anyone’s guess,” he said. “There’s a philosophy at the studio that as long as we keep making awesome things, awesome opportunities will open up to us. But we can’t make any firm decisions because the games industry is a crazy thing. We’re just focused on the here and now and getting to October 31. We’ll see what people think of this first.”
“We’re a small team and we’re working on, purely just everything that we can get out of DC,” said Ginn of the company’s relationship with the Batman publisher. “The relationship we have with them is amazing, we’re really making this our focus.”
“You’re right it is a similar answer because if we get to do our own stuff in the future then cool but there’s nothing else we’d rather be doing. It’s not like we’re sitting here going ‘Aw man, we gotta work on Batman. Are you serious?’ There’s nothing else we’d rather be doing.”
Batman: Arkham City is now available in stores for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
