Level-5’s Layton Heads to the iPhone

October 17, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

The long rumored Mystery Room becomes a Layton Brothers title for the iOS

Level-5 is long rumored to have been developing a game called Mystery Room. At the Level-5 Vision press conference today, the studio announced that the game would be getting resurrected as a “Layton Brothers” title on the iOS, for both the iPad and iPhone.

Professor Layton himself will not be the game’s main character, roles which are instead given to Professor Layton’s son Alphendi, and fellow Scotland Yard investigator Lucy Creila. Following the game’s two protagonists, the player will solve a series of murder mysteries.

According to AndriaSang, Mystery Room was first announced at a Level-5 press conference two years ago as an original entry in a now defunct brain teaser IP called Atamania. Needless to say, it was a good idea for them to simply stick to the Professor Layton franchise by rebranding (and rewriting) the game.

No release date for Layton Brothers: Mystery Room has been announced as of yet.
