The highly-anticipated deckbuilding horror hybrid game Inscryption has finally got a release date for those waiting for it on PS4 and PS5. After the surprise reveal that it would be coming to the platform earlier this month, it’s now been announced that it’ll be launching on PlayStation consoles on August 30.
Described by its creator as “an inky black card-based odyssey that’s part deck-building roguelike, part escape-room puzzler and part psychological horror,” Inscryption is a BAFTA-award-winning title that combines a number of game mechanics with a strangely compelling outcome. Psychological horror, escape puzzles and roguelike elements come together in a weird yet wonderful way in this game, which has so far garnered plenty of critical and commercial acclaim during its run as a PC release.
As previously reported, Inscryption will also be getting some unique features for PlayStation gamers. These include specially-designed haptic feedback on the DualSense controller, which has been configured to “enhance every grisly action,” according to a PlayStation blog post shared earlier in the month by Inscryption’s creator Daniel Mullins. In addition to this, the controller will make use of strategically atmospheric lighting, alongside audio from the talking Stoat card, which is set to be your loyal companion throughout the psychological horrors of the game’s narrative.
Heading into a darkened cabin in the woods to play cards with a mysterious and frankly terrifying-looking otherworldly being? Sounds like a recipe for a hit, frankly. It certainly looks like there’ll be a highly engaged audience for Inscryption on PlayStation, and thankfully now we have a release date for the game there’s not too much longer for fans of its twisted tales to wait.
Inscryption is available for pre-order now ahead of its full console release on August 30. It will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 and is currently available for PC via Steam.
