Big developments for Final Fantasy XIV are afoot, as Square Enix announced "FFXIV 2.0" as well as a PS3 version of the game to be released sometime next year.
FFXIV had a rocky start, as the launch of the game was riddled with issues–from an utter lack of content, no PVP, and iffy end-game material (the list goes on and on, really). It was terrible enough that Square Enix itself has gone on record and stated that they feel that the game has damaged the Final Fantasy name.
Though the game has seen some fixes and updates, 2.0–which will be an ongoing update, taking place over the next year– will be the most drastic yet. It will include a new graphics engine, new classes, redesigned user interface, redesigned areas, reinstitution of a subscription and much more. You can check out the full list of changes, here.
Hopefully 2.0 does something to give us an MMO worthy of the Final Fantasy name.
