Star Wars Battlefront Update Includes Some Long-Needed Weapon Nerfs

January 27, 2016 by Carlos Chism

The DL-44 has lost a lot of its bite.

If you’re a lower-level Star Wars Battlefront player, or simply don’t like the annoyingly popular DL-44, you’re in luck. In the most recent update to DICE’s shooter from a galaxy far, far away, the game’s best weapon has been nerfed.

The DL-44’s fire rate has been dropped to 180 from 250, along with having its overheating tweaked. For anyone who’s played enough of Battlefront, that’s welcome news, since higher-level players have been using the gun’s inane speed and overheating time to wipe the floor with anyone else not using the gun.

There’s several other mechanical tweaks to the game too, which you can read in full here. Aside from the DL-44, the most noticeable change is to the homing shot, a Star Card perk that unlocks at level 11, and is, essentially, a tracking missile. The perk takes 1.5 seconds to lock on now, up from the paltry 0.4, while the lock-on distance and projectile speed have also been lowered.

Here changes have also been included and are listed below. Anyone who finds getting blown away by Boba Fett again and again and again will cheer this news. Or was that just me?

  • Han Solo weapon damage over distance is lowered. Damage goes from 70 (was 75) to 30 (was 35) between 10 (was 20) and 25 (was 40) meters

  • Boba Fett weapon damage over distance is lowered. Damage goes from 30 to 20 (was 25) between 30 and 60 (was 80) meters

  • Boba Fett wristlauncher explosion radius decreased from 4 to 2.5, maxiumum damage increased from 1 to 1.2 meters

  • Boba Fett missile doesn't lock on anymore

On the content side of things, we learned yesterday what will come as part of the free update, which is available today. We also learned more information about the free DLC for February and March, as well as some details on the expansion packs for the season pass.
