The official game lineup and details of EVO 2016 has been revealed.
Without further ado, the games are:
· Street Fighter V
· Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator
· Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
· Pokken Tournament
· Super Smash Bros for Wii U
· Super Smash Bros Melee
· Killer Instinct
· Mortal Kombat X
· Tekken 7 Fated Retribution
So, Ultra Street Fighter IV is out, and Pokken Tournament is in. EVO tournament organizer Joey ‘Mr Wizard’ Cuellar did come up on interview to explain their choices. As Joey reveals, Ultra’s successor Street Fighter V promises to be bigger, as reception to the beta is overwhelmingly positive. Street Fighter V also benefits from the larger user base of the PlayStation 4.
As for Pokken, Joey explains EVO decided to take their chances with it since the developer, Bandai Namco, is familiar with fighting games. Bandai Namco is also supporting EVO with Tekken 7 by supplying the arcade cabinets (EVO precedes Tekken 7’s console release).
Joey also talked about how the fanbase loyalty kept Melee and Marvel in EVO long after official developer support ended, and how the other games in the lineup do enjoy solid developer support.
EVO 2016 will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Taking a page out of Genesis 3, EVO is moving the Sunday finals to the large Mandalay Bay sports arena, which can seat 12,000. With a finals stuffed with Street Fighter V, Melee, Marvel, MKX, and Xrd, EVO is guaranteed to fill those seats.
