Rocket League remains one of the most popular and active competitive online games since its release, with league play being a particularly big draw for players with a competitive streak.
Today, the game's developer Psyonix has announced that Season 2 of the Rocket League will launch this February. The developer has taken plenty of feedback from the community during Season 1 and plans to implement these suggestions into the upcoming Season.
Players will find that they will be rewarded for consistency in winning instead of penalized harshly for individual losses. Players can also expect to find ranked matches listed as Competitive Matchmaking in playlists. There will be no Rank Points this time around, with Skill Rating being the only factor that determines the division you're in. Rather than having your rank changed based on individual wins and losses, you'll be graded based on consistency.
The new system isn't the only change being made to competitive play. There are now 12 new titles to replace the four tiers of the first Season. Players who participate will have to perform 10 placement matches to determine their division, which is also affected by their performance in Season 1–if they have a prior record.
