Square Enix Gives Omikron Away for Free in Memory of David Bowie

January 15, 2016 by Stephen Daly

Omikron will be free for one week from today.

Square Enix has announced that it is giving away Omikron: The Nomad Soul in memory of David Bowie, who appeared in the game.

Bowie, who died on January 10th at the age of 69, was warmly remembered by many in the video game industry, but Omikron is the only game the signer and actor was directly involved in.

"In memoriam to David Bowie's legacy, we are giving away free digital copies of his video game, Omikron: The Nomad Soul," Square Enix said on Twitter.

The offer is available from today through January 22nd on PC. Those who avail of the offer will get a Steam code to unlock the game. Omikron is listed as free on the European store but North American visitors will need to enter the coupon code "omikron" at checkout to get the game for free.

Developed by Quantic Dream and published Eidos Interactive in 1999, Omikron is an adventure game which features several original Bowie songs. Speaking to Game Informer yesterday, Quantic Dream's David Cage discussed meeting Bowie for the first time and described him as "a gentleman, a brilliant person, intelligent, simple and accessible, curious about everything and very far from the preconceived ideas one may have about what a rock legend should be."
