Final Fantasy XV will offer a difficulty system that can be changed to cater to different players who prefer their own playstyle, Square Enix has revealed.
Answering questions on the game's official forums, FFXV's lead game designer Takizawa Masashi explained:
“The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes,” he said.
“By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style. This switching system is a key part of the gameplay that we decided to introduce based on the feedback we received from the Episode Duscae demo.”
The studio intends to release more details about the gameplay systems leading up to the game's release, which Square Enix has confirmed to be in 2016 on Xbox One and PS4. Square Enix recently compared the game's story to The Last of Us, at least in terms of how its narrative is presented.
