Kojima, Hip Tanaka, Other Gaming Folks Remember David Bowie On Twitter

January 12, 2016 by Ryan Parreno

The music icon influenced a lot of famous game composers as well.

As you may already know, musical heavyweight David Bowie passed away yesterday in his sleep. Several folks in the gaming community shared their tributes, and we’re sharing their tweets with you here.

Of course, both the official Guitar Hero and Rock Band Twitter accounts paid their customary respects.

No more an Earth dweller; Starman, you will be missed.

Absolutely heartbroken over the loss of David Bowie. Another music legend lost.

Nintendo legend Hirokazu Tanaka announced the news to his followers, and then proceeded to share favorite Bowie tracks. His first exposure to Bowie was with the songs Space Oddity and The Jean Genie. He also took photos of Bowie LPs from his private collection, which you can see below.

pic.twitter.com/qc5KJHg5Ti

Jet Set Radio composer Hideki Naganuma shared a picture of his collection of Bowie tracks on iTunes.

Perhaps the most heartbreaking and fitting tribute comes from a dev renowned for his love of Bowie; Hideo Kojima. Kojima has famously placed numerous references, and even Bowie’s likeness, into several Metal Gear games.

Kojima happened to have purchased Bowie’s latest album on the 10th. You can see the tweets he made before and after the news struck.
