The 18th annual Independent Games Festival judges have announced the finalists for this year’s round of awards. According to the IGF, these awards honor “the most influential, innovative and exemplary projects in independent game development.”
The categories include excellence in visual art, design, narrative, audio, the Nuovo reward, the Best Student Game, and the Seumas McNally Grand Prize, the festival’s equivalent of game of the year. Some popular indie titles like Her Story, Cibelle, Darkest Dungeon, and Undertale have made the list. Some of the games also made it into our Top 10 Weird Games of 2015 feature. For the full list of awards, make sure to check out the IGF’s website. The awards are a great way to find games that may have been gotten lost in the coverage of larger AAA or more mainstream indie titles from last year. Mini Metro, That Dragon, Cancer, and Infinifactory are all definitely worth a look.
