Rise of the Tomb Raider has sold over a million copies this past holiday, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg has stated. Speaking in response to a gamer on Twitter, the Xbox executive clarified that the 1M sales figure represented sell-through and not just copies shipped. He called it a "big December!"

The game was one of four titles exclusive to the Xbox One that sold over a million copies in November and December. Other titles include Halo 5, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, and Forza 6.
The game, which launched during a crowded period in November, did not do quite as well as Fallout 4 or Black Ops 3, which topped the charts in November. Sales for Rise of the Tomb Raider did not even break the top 10 on the NPD Group's charts that month.
The previous title in the series, Tomb Raider, was not exclusive to a single console and sold well over 3 million copies in its first month. The sequel is expected to pick up more sales as it gets released across the PC and PS4.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an Xbox One exclusive game until later this month when it gets a PC release. The game is also coming out for the PS4 later this year.
