Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy IX will be rereleased on PC, Android, and iOS later this year. The rerelease will feature updated graphics, auto-save features, and a high-speed mode, along with other small additions and tweaks.
Some Final Fantasy fans might be skeptical about this rerelease, due to the poor visual quality of past remasters. Square Enix has also recently released Final Fantasy VI on Steam. That title was mostly a port of the mobile version of the game, although modders eventually scrubbed graphical tweaks from the game.

Of course, there’s also the major Final Fantasy VII total remake, announced last year. Fans of the franchise and its classic entries are enjoying this series of rereleases and remasters.
Final Fantasy IX is currently only slated for release in Japan, but considering that other rereleases have made their way to North America and Europe, it is almost all but expected this title will too. Keep an eye on Gameranx for more information.
