The Piranha Plant map is expected to be one of the last pieces of DLC that the publisher will release for the game, which has seen plenty of new weapons and maps added to it since it came out in May 2015.
Speaking to GameInformer, the game's co-director Yusuke Amano said that Nintendo intends to release DLC for the title until January 2016, with no plans after that. They are expected to continue supporting the game, but will not release new content for it afterwards.
The game has since sold millions of units and is one of the best selling titles on the Wii U. As a Nintendo exclusive, there are no plans to port the game to other platforms.
