Mass Effect Andromeda Senior Development Director Leaves BioWare

January 3, 2016 by Carlos Chism

No specific reason was given for the departure.

Chris Wynn, Development Director for the upcoming Mass Effect: Andromeda, has left BioWare. As spotted by GamingBolt, the developer made the announcement via Twitter last week in a series of tweets. Wynn announced that he would be joining Bioware to work on the next Mass Effect title in July of 2013.

It is with a heavy heart today to say that I am moving on from BioWare and Mass Effect: Andromeda, and returning to the USA.

The Andromeda team is the most talented team that I have ever worked with, truly inspiring to have worked with you each and every day.

I will join the passionate N7 community and will eagerly await the release of Andromeda with equal enthusiasm. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Wynn did not specify why he has left the company. Prior to working at BioWare, he served as Senior Producer at Epic Games and as  Lead Producer at Microsoft. It is uncertain what his departure means for the development of Mass Effect: Andromeda, but we do know that we’ll be getting far fewer sneak peeks and snippets on Twitter, as Wynn shared small bits of info from time to time.

Mass Effect: Andromeda was officially announced on June 15, 2015 at E3. The game takes place long after the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy in the Andromeda galaxy, hence the title. The game will run on DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine, much like Dragon Age: Inquisition and most other current-gen EA titles.

Keep an eye on Gameranx once news of who replaces Wynn at the company is announced. Mass Effect Andromeda is due out in 2016.
