Owners of the PS Vita will be happy to know that Bandai Namco Entertainment is developing a new game for the platform.
Today, the publisher revealed that they will be releasing Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS-Force for the PS Vita in North America. It'll be out in 2016.
The game is exclusive to Sony's handheld platform and is set to offer players the ability to pilot the legendary Mobile Suits that made the anime so popular. Players will take on a variety of missions ranging from scenarios set within the Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam Universal Century settings in fast-paced 2v2 gameplay to larger, more strategic team battles.
The gameplay is based on the Japanese Gundam VS franchise, which has producer more than 10 titles in the past 14 years across multiple console systems and arcades. The new game will see the inclusion of large-scale team battles.
All battles take place in either 3rd person or through an overhead tactical view that allows players to command teams of six Mobile Suits and one battleship. Team battles gives pilots tactical control over the placement and actions of their troops as they compete to eliminate opposing forces.
In addition to the multiplayer modes, players will also be able to take on missions in single player.
“Mobile Suit Gundam has perpetually been one of Japan’s most iconic franchises exported to Western countries for over 35 years. The TV anime has led to numerous best-selling toys, movies, manga and even a giant statue in the heart of Tokyo,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM EXTREME VS-FORCE gives players the chance to pilot these legendary Mobile Suits across the expansive Gundam franchise; from 1978’s Mobile Suit Gundam to the first video game appearance of characters from 2014’s Gundam: Reconguista in G and 2015’s Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.”
We'll post more details as they become available.
