In a lengthy preview on Battle.net today, Blizzard detailed the big changes coming to WoW PvP in the upcoming Legion expansion. According to the post, PvP will function under an Honor system. Players won’t get gear from vendors using Honor and Conquest. Instead, the new Honor system will work similarly to Call of Duty’s prestige leveling system.
As they play, users will earn Honor Points, which increase Honor Level all the way to the maximum at 50. Some of the new rewards include gold, artifact power, and new PvP-only Honor Talents, which are abilities earned and engaged through higher levels in PvP. When a player hits Honor Level 50, they can Prestige and reset their Honor Level back to 1, and lose all their Honor Talents. Like in Call of Duty, doing this will grant players badges and titles to show off their Prestige levels, a wearable faction pennant, a new appearance for Artifacts, and a unique mount and pet.
Blizzard is confident players will enjoy the new system: “We see the Prestige system as a great way for players who aren’t interested in pursuing higher rating, but still enjoy PvP, to have their own unique rewards to chase after,” The company said in the post.
Other changes in the expansion include tweaks to gear and how it affects PvP, shorter PvP seasons and “end-of-seaon” PvP awards, gear earned by completing Battlegrounds or Arenas, and two new Arena maps.
World of Warcraft: Legion was announced in August at Gamescom 2015, and is expected to release in Q3 2016. A leak before BlizzCon seems to confirm the game will be out by September.
