The Elder Scrolls: Legends Delayed To 2016

December 18, 2015 by Carlos Chism

There’s always next year.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends, Bethesda’s strategy card game announced at E3, has been delayed into 2016. As spotted by PC Gamer and Destructoid, Pete Hines, Vice President of PR/Marketing at Bethesda, responded to a fan on Twitter about the dwindling possibilities of a 2015 launch: “I think it’s safe to say it’s not coming in the next 15 days.” Considering the likelihood of a Christmas launch, this was the perfect response. The game was originally announced at E3 2015 and slated for a launch during Fall of this year.

In further responses, Hines has said the game is in a playable but unpolished state. The announcement trailer didn’t show any gameplay, and Bethesda hasn’t released any other information about how the game will play since then. Bethesda has said that when the game does launch it will be free to play.

There has been a bit of a card collecting game craze sweeping the games industry over the past few years. What began with Mojang’s Scrolls snowballed with Blizzard’s massively successful Hearthstone. Jagex, developers of RuneScape, are also working on their own card battler, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends, which is currently in closed beta.

Legends is not the only game delayed from 2015 to 2016. In the past week, both Fable Legends and Below have been pushed back into 2016, despite having target launch dates for this fall.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends is now due out sometime in 2016.
