Capybara games announced today that Below has been delayed to 2016. In a statement to Game Informer, company co-founder and president Nathan Vella said: “Below is indeed coming in 2016. Past that I can’t share much, yet. We’ll certainly have a lot more content to show and news to share in the new year."The game was originally meant to release by the end of this year. The delay is not surprising, considering that there are only a couple weeks left in 2015.
Below is a procedurally generated roguelike adventure game with a top-down perspective. The combat has been described as brutal, and the game features permadeath. The developers have discussed infusing the game with a great sense of difficulty, much like the Demon Souls and Dark Souls series of games. Below has seen a long and public development cycle: the game was originally announced in 2013, and its first playable demo was at PAX East 2014.
Capybara games are well known for their earlier work, Superbrothers: Sword and Sorcery EP, and Super Time Force.
Below is now slated to release some time in 2016 for Xbox One and Windows PC.
